Who are you and what's your background in Torah education?
My name is Elozar Dovid Fridmann. I grew up in Lakewood, NJ. I studied in Eretz Yisrael at Heichal HaTorah for three years under Hagaon Harav Tzvi Kushelevsky Shlita. Following that, I learned at Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG) for three years and then dedicated six years to obtaining my smicha, with a focus on Issur V'Heter and Hilchos Shabbos.
What qualifies you to create these educational materials?
I don't think I am qualified for this, but this project started as a way to create engaging learning material to involve my kids and leverage my graphic design background. It wasn't meant to be for the public. A few rabbanim and teachers requested the material and encouraged me to bring this to the public. If it helps one person, that would be enough reward for me.
Why did you start Vehigadta? What motivated you to create these resources?
I truly enjoy teaching Torah to others and found that by adding graphic design and laying out the concepts in a logical, clear format, making it engaging and practical was something that gave me purpose. Helping others get closer to Hashem through these materials has become my passion.
How do you ensure your materials are authentically based on traditional sources?
I try to ensure that before I write something, I check it with a Sefer and verify that the sources come from authentic sources, starting with the Gemara and moving to Midrashim and Meforshim. The goal is not to take someone through the rabbit hole but instead to give them clear basic fundamentals and make it practical.
